Why do my gears click and make noise while I ride, and what is the solution?

Something caused an incorrect amount of tension in the derailleur cable. A simple and inexpensive derailleur adjustment will solve the problem.

When I start peddling from a stop, I notice a skip. What is that?

Check your chain. In the event that a chain is stretched past capacity, it will need replaced. If the chain has stretched to capacity without any prior routine maintenance the rear cassette will also need to be replaced in order to handle the power generated from the tight new chain. If you are in the middle of a ride and this happens for the first time, avoid heavy initial power transfer when resuming after stopping. Many different variances apply to how many miles you will get out of a chain.

Why are my breaks rubbing?

There are many different possibilities that will cause the breaks to rub. The solution is a brake adjustment. During the adjustment the cause of the rub will be discovered as will the solution.
